The owner of Westlake’s Lone Star Stables had me out for a sunset family shoot this fall after my daughter attended camp there last summer. A gorgeous little ranch surprisingly tucked away in the heart of Westlake matched by a stunning family. Beautiful children with a fun, playful attitude surrounded by a place they love to be. With the kids getting frequent photos with their horses for shows, the mom decided it was high time she had something with her and her spirited horse too!

Having some fun with wacky hair color during summer vacation, these sisters wanted to capture it in all its glory before the sad fading set in. They had just redone the color for full vibrant effect! With their gorgeous eyes and lashes I couldn’t help thinking of Japanese Anime characters the entire shoot! We went to the Lakeway TX marina to shoot at the park and out over the water. The level was so low with the drought it was a challenge not to get the rocky shoreline into the frame. The girls had a fun playful time experimenting with different poses and scenes. I love when they really get into it like this!

Halloween Express in Cedar Park, Texas just north of Austin hosts body artist Michelle Puslifer of On the Spot Body Art every year to decorate their patrons for Halloween parties and haunting. This year they wanted to showcase their costume selection by allowing their staff to creatively “shop” the store and put together unique ideas for their customers. This is a small sampling as they really got into it, each choosing multiple costumes ranging from the Mad Hatter and crazy Queen of Hearts complete with severed head, to a broken antique china doll. Here we just see how Beetlejuice and Sally of The Nightmare Before Christmas make friends with a wraith and Indian maiden. I sense the plot of a new B movie coming on.

This family reunion was on gorgeous Lone Man Creek in even more gorgeous Wimberley, Texas. Everyone had enough personality to fill up two photo shoots, playing and laughing together. And a gorgeous group of people they were, too, easy on the camera!

A combo senior portrait and mission farewell photo session, this kid has personality hiding in places most of us wish we could find. A true individual and independent spirit, easy going, nice, and talented, which will carry him far in upcoming transitions to missionary service in Salt Lake City and college life beyond.
Once the kids grow up and start leaving home, suddenly it becomes not a matter of finding time alone and for yourself as a parent, but in taking joy at having them all together and sadness when they are apart. With 6 kids, having everyone home at once is a real feat! While I’m living stage 1 with 5 small children, I see in these kids, as I’ve watched them grow up over the years, that very soon it’ll be me wondering where all my babies went! And what a beautiful family they are!

I love photographing grads! Young enough to look great without Photoshop, a wacky sense of self, style, and attitude mixed with shyness, yet old enough to follow instructions! And usually there’s only one of them. Find great sunset light and a great sharp lens, and it’s hard to go wrong.

Uncle L and little nephew N catching some outdoor activity together. Can you see the family resemblance?

Megan had a last-minute grad session, due to an injury to her face that prevented an earlier shoot. Her announcement photo (the blue t-shirt one above: I love how it shows her shy yet quirky independent attitude) was taken and uploaded to the processor the same night for next-day delivery, and those cards went out the next day! Just in time for commencement. And the best part was how fun and easy she and her mom were to work with. Great attitudes, fun, patient, excited, and mom even held my reflector. Well, maybe not needed as my giant pregnant belly clad in a white shirt was as big as my reflector and may have been almost as good!

After booking an approximate date, please call as soon as you are home from the hospital, when baby is about 3-days old, to finalize the session time. Newborn sessions are for babies 5-10 days old.

Newborn and Family Small $300

We spend a lot of time during these sessions at your home changing, nursing, feeding, burping, rocking, screaming, soothing, so while they last 3 hours the actual photography time totals an hour. The package includes the 3-4 hour session with 5 favorite images as digital negatives.

Newborn and Family Regular $500

The same loving atmosphere with as much time as it takes to capture the images we need as the small package, but all images individually edited as digital negatives on a commemorative DVD.
